Malgorzata Lach, a native of Poland and former U. S. Postal Service worker, was a Frances Perkins scholar. She majored in music and was a student of Phillip de Fremery. She was co-recipient of the Helen Blyth Music Prize I awarded to the outstanding graduate who began her serious study of music at Mount Holyoke. In the summer of 2005, Malgorzata apprenticed with Amherst luthier, Alan Chapman and built her own guitar. She is going on to graduate school to study music theory at the Hartt School of Music, Hartford, CT.
